Club Rules

Membership

Once you sign up and we confirm your application, you're a member. It doesn't commit you to anything, and you can leave the club at any time. The club is for singers as well as for those who play an instrument.

The evening

You'll find the dates of the evenings in the programme. We also send them to members by email.

The band may play a warm-up set at the start of the evening. Then the members play and sing, and in between we all sing together. The lyrics are on your phone — just scan the QR code in the room.

Signing up for an evening

Before every evening we send members an invitation with a sign-up link. Sign-up opens with the invitation and closes at 12:00 noon the day before the evening.

You sign up for one to three songs from the songbook. For each one you say whether you're singing or which instrument you're playing, and in which key. We put the running order together. If more songs come in than fit into the evening, you may get to play only some of them.

If you sign up as a player and no singer signs up for that song, someone from the band or the club will sing it.

If there's room left in the programme on the night, even someone who just dropped in can play. They sort it out with the bandleader on the spot.

Cancelling

If you can't make it, cancel as soon as you can, at the latest by the sign-up deadline. The band prepares according to the sign-ups.

A song that isn't in the songbook

You can suggest a song that's missing from the songbook. Whether and when the band learns it is something we'll agree on. Learning a song on request comes with a fee we'll agree on.

Recording and video

The whole evening is filmed and nobody can be cut out of it. By stepping on stage you agree that the event is being recorded.

Using the recording on the club's social media is a separate matter. It's handled by a checkbox when you pick your song. You can untick it at any time or withdraw your consent by email.

You can have a recording of your own performance made. We'll agree on the terms.

Guests

Anyone can come and watch, even without membership, and there's no need to sign up in advance. Bring as many guests as you like.

How we treat each other

We cheer for courage, not perfection. Nobody here is testing anybody, and nobody laughs at someone who gave it a go.

The bandleader is the safety net. If a song goes off the rails, they stop it and start it again.
